Hi, it's been a long time since I've been to Fiesta - at least 15 years. I used to go to everything, every night - NIOSA, La Semana, Oyster Bake, King William, etc. and had a high tolerance for the crowds and mayhem - now, not so much I would like to take my family to Fiesta 2013 and would specifically like to know what events we could see from a balcony of a hotel and which hotels to stay at to get a good view, avoid crowds and all that. Do they stll do the Flambeau? what other parades could we see from a hotel room?

My wife and I treat ourselves to a couple of nights at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio right accross from the convention center and literally next door to La Villita and NIOSA. This last year we decided to stay on Monday and Tuesday night so that we could watch the river parade and enjoy NIOSA the following night. The view from the balconies was not too bad, but not as good as it would be at the riverwalk level. However, we were in the comfort of our room and had easy access to food, drink and the ever important restroom.

Additionally, we have found that NIOSA is much more enjoyable because when the crowds do become overwhelming, we can easily go back to our room and take a breather or down to Durty Nellies for some more libations and merriment. Either way, we always have a fantastic time.
