The term "booze" applies to any alcoholic beverage, including beer. Both sell beer.

Merriam-Webster would disagree with you, it refers especially to hard liquor. Not to mention that the commissary does NOT sell any kind of alcohol. Period

Sorry, I guess it's not called the commissary. There is a place on base that sells liquor. What's it called? That place is much cheaper than off base liquor stores. Sorry, I should have been more clear.

We buy certain things at the commissary, and the rest at HEB. We buy most of our meats at the commissary. Yes HEB has a better selection of meats, and it is fresher, but we are fine with the meat sold at the commissary, and like to save money. However, we usually buy our pre-made hamburger patties at HEB, and also pre-packaged chicken wings (party wings). My family eats a lot of plantains, and they are usually cheaper at the commissary. Frozen dinners are cheaper at the commissary, so we buy those there. Keep in mind that neither HEB or the commissary charges sales tax on food items, but as someone else has already mentioned there is a surcharge on everything at the commissary. Also, if the baggers at the commissary are carrying your groceries out to your car, then a tip is expected. So the surcharge and tip eats away at some of your savings.

Are you thinking of the class six store? The BX at Lackland does sell hard liquor.

Merriam Webster doesn't say that booze is only hard liquor.

And I was talking about the BX, my bad.

So does the Class VI at Ft Sam, it's just to the right of the PX across the parking lot.

At Lackland the Class VI is in the gas station shoppette. It does sell "booze" no matter how you define it!

Cheers! M2
