I am looking for a retirement community to possibly move my parents into in SA. They are both disabled and on Social Security. I live about 1600 away now and they are always needing help. I want a place that is like an apartment community but is affordable for their limited income. I do not want a retirement home. Any suggestions? I haven't lived in SA for a decade. I want to be informed before approaching them about it. They currently live in a rough trailer park paying to much for a run down trailer that I fear can not be moved by the time they pay it off. I also think the owner is taking advantage and I fear will just keep collecting rent even after they have paid it all off. They aren't good with finances and keeping track of thing. I am often helping financially and would rather they be in a safer place. Anyway there are million details I could fill in but I would love some info. Thanks

It's hard to say. They are limited by income. But I think they would be comfortable in the WestLakes Mall area (I know it's not there anymore.) but in an area I wouldn't have to be concerned about their safety. Maybe somewhere near Bandera rd. I have a brother in that area. It might be easier for him to check on them that way. As of now he doesn't much but I am not sure if location has much to do with it.

I know that there are some clean senior adult apartments near the corner of huebner and bandera Rd. I'll try to get the address for you. There are also some off callaghan in 78228. There are many senior living arrangements through SAHA (San Antonio Housing Authority). I know of one in the Westlakes area on Garden Brook St. I sell Medicare Advantage plans, so I've visited many of these places in the past few years. I'm sure that I have a list somewhere. If your parents do make the move, I'd be happy to help them find a Medicare plan that would suit their needs. PM me if you'd like information on that.
