I'm looking for an optometrist office that will do contacts and LASIK, if possible. I had LASIK done 10 years ago and it worked great but my eyes are getting older along with the rest of me so my vision isn't so great anymore. I don't know if I would qualify for LASIK again, and while the first surgery was successful, I hear so many horror stories that I'm not sure I want it done again even if I could!

I hated contacts but technology has improved since I last wore them, so maybe now they have some more comfortable lenses or extended wear (I used to have astigmatism so I couldn't wear extended wear)

Any good optometrists out there that you would recommend? I live in the north/northwest area of SA. Thanks!

I would think that for possible LASIK, you'd need to go to an ophthalmologist who does that. Try Dr. Rashid, on Fredericksburg Rd.

For LASIK, I'd highly recommend Dr. Manrique. He does a blade free procedure and can operate on a lot of folks that have been told by other docs that they didn't qualify. He's got a pretty stellar track record.

Moderator cut: not permitted If you're interested in his direct contact info (not the office line), DM me.

Stuart A. Terry @ Braverman–Terry–Oei Eye Associates
Read his bio, his credentials speak for themselves.

As for those Doctors whose offices are in shopping centers...it's not confidence inspiring.

Dr. Rashid did mine 5 years ago. He has an optometrist in the practice as well. LASIK in San Antonio - Lasik Eye Surgery for Vision Correction - Dr. Edward Rashid - Lasik Specialist San Antonio

Are you looking for an optometrist or an ophthalmologist?

I am looking for an optometrist. I just need an eye exam, and probably glasses or contacts at this point. If I can wear contacts after having had LASIK ten years ago, I think I will go that route rather than another LASIK surgery, but I still would prefer to find an office that does both glasses/contacts and LASIK. I know they exist, but maybe they are ophthalmologists. Or I could go to one for glasses/contacts and another for LASIK, just not as convenient.

Thx for the recommendations so far.

I use Medical Center Opthalmology Associates. Home Dr. fisher has done my two cataract surgeries and he, plus of a number of the doctors in the practice, do LASIK. The bottom line for me is that today my eyesight is fantastic and the best it's been in my adult life.

For an optometrist, I've always liked Dr. Visitsunthorn who used to office outside Costco Sonterra but has since moved to somewhere near 410/Ingram it seems.

I had my LASIK done by Dr. Iskander, and would highly recommend him.
