Does anyone know the procedure to get school zone signs installed where there are none?

Thanks!

I thought they went up automatically. If you know of a school in San Antonio that is not equipt with school zones signs I would say call you council person. If they drag their feet I would call the media.

Is the location next to a school?

The quickest/easiest way is to contact your councilman or woman...

The request should come to transportation from the school's principal. Engineering staff will study the location and determine traffic counts, speed of traffic during drop-off and pick-up time at the school, and the number of students crossing.

Seriously? Ridiculous.

This is not a responsiblity of the school. School zone signs are the responsibility of the City (or County for the rural schools). You can contact the San Antonio or Bexar County Transportation Departments and let them know a sign is needed.

I wrote to the dude in charge of our district's (I'm in 6--Ray Lopez) "constituent needs". We'll see what happens.

Thanks for your input, all!

I'm in 9 and my city councilman just arranged for all of the school zone signs to be replaced with fluorescent signs on the street where the little girl was run over while crossing the street on her way to school. Council members do have some sway on this.

I saw that story today. I am glad they are doing something. I must admit that little girl was in my thoughts when I was thinking of all of this initially. How sad that something has to happen before we do anything.
