I was one of the head cooks at Huey's on St Mary's when St Mary's street was "the strip" in SA.
Crazy stuff happened at the restaurant. Personally, on St Patricks day I sold wippets on the street without being hassled by police...was a great time. I can't believe its coming up on 30 years...Wondering where my cohorts are...

I named my cat after Huey's!

I was at a show at Josephine Theatre Saturday night and driving through St. Mary's street around 10:30pm brought back memories. Surprisingly, the street was fairly busy and seems to me that it is on a huge up swing. Perhaps the development of the Pearl and the influx of people moving in down there has something to do with this...

Indeed it's on an upswing. The Strip is back. It was big in 2003 when I started venturing more to it and today..good luck finding parking. You're gonna be in someone's front yard. Faust, Limelight, HiTones, BrassMonkey, etc. Street vendors, bands and hijinx, abound.

Have fun and be safe.

Is Brass Monkey the same building as La Playa used to be back when Huey's was around???

I remember going to Huey's after my cousin's wedding, but don't remember how I got home that night!
Next thing I knew, it was gone...

I was a student at Trinity University in 1986 and remember that entire strip on St. Mary's and especially Huey's. Crazy times, indeed!
