The one where the little girl and her mother make a wish, the child wishes for a puppy, the mother for affordable internet. It used to end with the mother asking the custodian "Do you know where the nearest pet shop is" and the child catches her breath and they both laugh and hug. Now, the ending has dropped the reference to the pet shop and all we hear is the catching of the breath and some laughter.

Anyone know why the ending was changed? I can only imagine some one or group complained about the reference to a pet shop and "buying" a puppy instead of adopting one from one of our many shelters. Just a guess on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Good catch and yes, there was apparently an online petition to change it. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/479/3...ot-pet-stores/

Personally, both of my dogs are rescues, but I think people are wee bit hypersensitive.

Thanks, Rusybolt. I went to the petition and read folks' comments. I also noticed just about all the signers were female. I didn't realize that the offending commercial was national. The commercial just came on TV as I was typing this. TWC should have inserted "animal shelter" in place of pet store, I don't understand why they didn't just adjust 2 words.

FWIW, that $14.99 a month is misleading as well. I have it, and because of leasing the modum, router and assorted fees and taxes, my monthly bill is just under $30.00 a month, double the advertised price. I am going to look into purchasing my own modem to remove the modem rental charge.

Check Amazon frequently as they go on sale once in a while and from what I've read buy the white one.

I haven't seen the commercial, but if I did then I wouldn't have been offended by it. Probably wouldn't have even noticed the pet shop reference.

It is a free country and it is not my business if someone wants to buy a puppy or adopt one.

The TWC website has a list of suitable modems. Perhaps the most commonly suggested modem is the SB6141. As Deep Forest suggests, check Amazon. And yes, it IS the white one. IF you get one, then call TWC to have it setup. It's a simple process and take only a few minutes (+/-), your mileage may vary. You will want to acquire and setup your own router.

Don't forget about ebay. As long as it's a compatible model you should be fine.
