First all I guess It was my fault lending out my truck. I thought it would be kind of me to lend my brother my truck to go back to his apartment (NW) since he is in between vehicles(figuratively). Well Easter morning I got a call (not from the Easter Bunny) from my brother saying my truck had been towed over night. I can't tell you how upset I was not expecting this especially thinking I was doing a favor. Well I went to the towing site (SE) San Antonio and the real shock came with the charge $220.00. My question is "Is this right? Is this disputable or is this what to expect and kiss my money and good intentions good-bye.

In my experience it's.....your money is gone. I might be wrong, but I don't think there's much you can do about it.

If your brother has a designated parking spot at his apartment, should he be able to park any car he is driving in the spot without it getting towed. What if he was driving a rental car instead of your truck? It just doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't your brother be aware of this if he lives there and know how to notify the apartment before parking the truck there?

The tow truck company are usually crooks and only in it for easy money.

If I were you, I'd be burning up hiway paying the fee and getting my truck back. You may find it stripped like I did one of my trucks that was running perfectly. No tires, no radiator, no transmission, no seats, and the engine was in the process of being pulled. And nobody gives a crap about it either.

Cool story.

As crooked tow truck drivers are, I would think they would still have to stay within the legal or grey areas to continue to operate which does not include stripping cars.

I know that this is the easiest way to make money off a car with no title in hand, but that is just flat out illegal for a legit towing company to do.

Get the details from your brother as to where he was parked - but if they got called to tow it, it's actually usually for a reason.

As noted - your brother owes you $220.....good luck - but go GET IT TODAY! You're racking up storage fees, etc.!!

Actually, I got the truck back as soon I located the storage facility but any of you who have younger brothers know what it is like collecting money. I would have a better chance collecting it from the towing company. I am just going to have to regift my brother's Birthday and Christmas present this year. Thanks
