I won't pay to see a show in an arena, but I will pay to see one in a better venue.

Speaking of, I admit I've never been to Sunken Gardens. What are its pros and cons?

Pros are its centrally located and that it's outdoors. It's a classic venue where many bands have played just before making it to be big enough to play bigger arenas.

Cons, it is small. I believe it only fits about 5,000-6,000 people or so....so you would never see a name a big act play this venue.

I have lots of great memories of Sunken Gardens, we went to quite a few really good shows in my teen years during the late 90's. Even when we didn't have any money for tickets we would occasionally manage to sneak in for a free concert climbing down the rocks off to the side.

Bands like Depeche Mode and Muse will play will choose Austin over San Antonio every time, where as bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica seem to choose SA over Austin. Three of these four bands actually have shows this year in SA/Austin area.
