As we all know, the new "open carry" law goes into effect on 1/1/2016. Let's make this a thread where we can report back and alert others as to which businesses (other than the obvious 51% alcohol,etc...) won't allow open carry.

I'll start:

HEB

Whole Foods.

They also ban CHL unlike HEB which still allows it.

Seems to me it would be easier to just continue concealed carry than to worry about who will and won't allow open carry, but I realize there are a lot of folks that find this exciting.

I find open carry very annoying, not exciting. I fail to see the purpose of open carry in public places.

OC will have its' place - especially during the hottest summer months, when trying to CC is a challenge - sweat on a gun will tear it up. I'll continue to CC 95% of the time, but when I'm on a project that is going to be having me sweat a lot, OC will be more likely.

Bear in mind - many other states have had OC for a long time, and frankly it's just not that big a deal.

Randolph Brooks FCU has posted 30.07 signs at all their locations.

Does it really matter if someone is open carrying vs concealed? Why annoying?

When I lived in a state that was difficult to obtain a ccw, I wanted one and fought hard to obtain one. When I moved to az and now tx, which both allow open and concealed I don't care about doing either

The web site Texas3006.com - Your 30.06 Information Resource - Home is a good resource for this info.

An interesting effect. I've seen new 'ghostbuster' - no guns signs appearing as OC approaches. Now they have no effect unless someone in the locale tells you not to carry. I wonder if that is from ignorance or attempt to assuage the public's fear with a pseudo-sign?

The 30.07 is rather large. I know way back when, a business that had a ghost buster. I went into to tell the management my opinion and was surprised. The boss said, Yep - he knew. It was a scam on upper management who thought they had really banned. He was a gun person and fooled them.

The pros and cons of OC are well discussed elsewhere.

The thing that really is stupid is that most of the private colleges are going to ban concealed carry. Some schools already have big signs at their entrances. It should say: Gun Free and Target Rich Zone!

If you are a TX and believe in the RKBA, I would rethink sending a child to one of those.

Any "no firearms" sign, even the ghostbusters type, does have legal effect stopping long gun carry. But lately only the wacko's are doing the long gun public exhibitions.

Actually, an owner or employee in authority can do so simply by requesting they leave the premises. Failure to do so constitutes Criminal Trespass.
