Just did a pretty thorough Google search and came up with zilch so thought I'd ask here.

Are there any theaters in SA that have a room where you can take your baby if the baby is crying? Its pretty much a soundproofed room with a huge window. You can continue to watch the movie, listen to it through speakers in the room but you dont disturb anyone if your baby acts up...

And lets not get into the "find a babysitter" thing.... Just wondering because when I lived in Germany they were all over the place and I havent seen one anywhere since I returned to the states and sometimes you just wanna do something and finding a babysitter at the last minute for a 3 month old in a town where you are new can be a hassle.

Thanks all.

To be honest.. I have never ever seen one of those in the States. You are correct in saying they have them in Germany. I guess the Germans think about that kind of stuff more then the Americans do. I have seen where they bring food to you in the theatre .. but they havent thought about those people wanting to go to the movies with little ones.

We're in the Bible belt--the churches have them, but not the movie theaters!

The Palace Theatre in Seguin, Texas, built in 1947 features both a crying room and a smoking room. The smoking room nows contains equipment. The theatre is used for live plays and occassionally the owner will play a film there. There use to be a crying room in one of the theatres in Houston. In my 30 years of theatre history these are the only two I am aware of. Sorry.

No crying room that i know of but the first movies of the day at some of the movie houses are baby friendly, lights up. volume not up as loud and geared toward caregivers and babies. Pretty good deal you might want to check out if that fits your schedule.

out of curiosity, why would you want to take a baby to the movies? it's not like the baby would enjoy it. you'd be spoiling every other moviegoers' experience if the baby decided to cry too.

This is why the OP would like a theatre with a crying room. The only people who would hear the baby would be others in the same situation. The OP is trying to be considerate.

Sometimes you want to see a film.

Alas, no such luck here. We haven't gone to the cinema since before DD was born

If you need to take the baby into the crying room, that would mean you are disrupting the audience until you get inside the crying room....so that makes it kind of irrelavant.....unless you watched the entire movie from the crying room.

That's the point - you watch the entie movie from the crying room. You wouldn't move during the middle of the film. You start off there.
