I love how people crap on attorneys, but most here could never properly defend themselves in a major lawsuit or criminal case.

Based from your responses I am going to go out on limb and state that you are either a Lawyer, are married to one, or dating one. And you are right .. most people cant defend themselves in a major lawsuit or criminal case... but this is not either one of those. This can be handled by the owner on their own. Why give a lawyer 40% of what they are going to get on something that has been happening a forever? Eminent Domain is part of what governs the American People.

The OP is now facing what a lot of people have faced before. It doesn't require a lawyer to deal with it. As one person before said, deal with it now instead of dealing with it from a negative viewpoint. Land is material stuff there is more material stuff down the road. Me personally, I wouldn't live somewhere that may invariably be a landing zone for a plane that misses the runway. Just my opinion, I would have already been negotiating that deal.

Default Lawyers,

If you are stating that I crap on lawyers I do not, but they can be corrupt people as can be anyone.
Lawyers are not above or beyond any other group pf people as far as scruples are concerned.
As for my own lawyer ; as I have written he is one of my closest friends. His office door is
always open for me and I have his home phone number. Because. We argue politics for hours on end. He is a very ,very good person. He , of course likes to argue for the free market and no govt. intervention.
A twice wounded Viet Nam vet. Make no mistake, he is in it and out there for the money. 40%, or his fees which are not cheap.
I would not hesitate to call on him for anything and do sometimes for his take on matters. A counselor.

There are attorneys, and there are Ambulance Chasers. If you can quote your legal representative's phone number because you've heard it on TV......you have an ambulance chaser. If your legal counsel is saved in your phone under "Mean SOB" or "The Shark" - then, yeah - you've got a GOOD attorney. I've used my guy for over 20 years - as nice and pleasant a fellow as you could hope to meet.....until he's in a court room. Then, you hope that he's seated at YOUR table.

From the sounds of it, you are located in either the clear zone or accident potential zone I or II. You do not want to live here. If a plane goes down it's going down here. Studies have been done on this. They know where the high accident potential areas area. The clear zone must be kept clear of obstacles and obstructions. These are the areas right off the ends of runways where aircraft arrive and depart. Sometimes the houses around the base pre date the base or clear zone rules, but it's in the best interest of public's safety to keep these areas clear of all structures to the max extent possible.

I used to live on property adjacent to Air Force Bases. First I thought it never end,
this was before it was against the law for jets to break the sound barrier over residential areas and the sonic booms were a tremendous noise like dynamite. Plus from noise the old reciprocating engines of Military propeller driven aircraft made. Always, day and night circling and landing.
So we moved to Thunderbird Hills adjacent to Kelly Field. It was far worse. The C-5 engines roared with deafening noise , all conversation stopped, television stopped, telephone conversations stopped,
it was amazing. One could easily see the pilots of the smaller fighter airplanes. Wearing a helmet.

Construction guys strip the houses which are bought around airports. Furnaces , windows, everything really.
