FUY: just got text from my network provider "All phone users with a Texas 210 area code must dial area code + tel# for all local calls beginning 9/23/2017"

I noticed that all my local contacts are saved to my phone without the area code, because it was not necessary to do so. After the due date they wouldn't go through...

Agreed -- this is something that will impact the overwhelming majority of San Antonio residents, who up until now have been able to call local numbers without the Area Code. Even wireless numbers (assuming service was established in San Antonio) will generally be affected.

My current wireless provider already requires dialing the area code for all calls. I switched to this provider a few months back and kept the same phone. Every once in a while, when a call fails, I am reminded that my stored local numbers need to be updated.

Sure wish when something like this takes they cloud "mass convert" all our cell numbers......
