The last location in Austin is closing. See the link to the blog for the full story.

There were a couple of questions about the Nighthawk restaurant chain on this forum a while back. This link showed up today on Facebook about the last location in Austin.

The location I saw daily for almost four years was at the intersection of San Pedro and West Rampart St. I did not know about the location near SAC and thank those who remembered this part of San Antonio's dining past. Now it's going to only be frozen food available at the nearest grocery store.

Yep that is a pretty sad end to a storied history. As a kid growing up in Austin (we moved there in 1964 from Waco..I was a four year old), a trip to the Nighthawk was a special treat. It required me to be in my best attire and on my best behavior. It was always well worth it. Like so many things, it is fading into history. I guess the frozen food version is the closest any of us will get to it now.

Dang. I had a neighbor in Austin who worked for the group that developed the frozen dinners. He used to bring us big piles of samples. Haven't thought of that in years.
