This is the first time the chain has been rated as No. 1. It overtook Trader Joe's for the spot.

I would disagree a touch, having experience with both HEB and Wegmans, it's a tie. Wegman's has a better take out selection than HEB. HEB ditched their hot food buffets. Wegmans still has a decent one.

I'm glad Whole Foods isn't there. They stink compared to the others. In fact, in a neighborhood with both a block apart, Wegmans is packed and WF is empty. They just opened a Wegmans in Brooklyn and the crowds and critics loved it compared to the WF.

I'd say the Alon Market and a big Wegmans are a good match.

Not impressed by Aldis.

I don't see how Trader Joes even got #1 at all. I shop there, but for some basic items that TJs has specifically, or has for a much cheaper price (TJs has a good selection of no salt added and low sodium foods for really reasonable prices). There's no way, though, that I could do all of my grocery shopping at TJs because there are so many things they don't carry, or their price is insanely high (like produce).

I like HEB for some things, but love Trader Joe's and Wegman's. I like Aldi a lot, too. I've shopped Publix, and they're awesome, too. When I'm back in Boston, I love Market Basket.

Unfortunately, in San Antonio, and there's not a lot of competition.

HEB has a virtual monopoly. Now Target pissed me off so much last year that I don't use it at all. BTW, do they still have management? Because I could swear the employees are just all on their own! As for Wally World, I won't use them if they don't have any regular cashiers available. There was a nightmare scenario where I tried to check out at the self-service area when no regular cashiers were there last year. When I got to a product with no price coming up, I should have just walked out, because a solution on that one took half an hour of waiting, waiting, waiting...etc. Then another problem, etc.. Guess if you only have one or two items, it might be okay, but I'm never going to their self-serve area...EVER, because I just don't have time to waste!

I hate, HATE Wal-Mart.

BUT...their grocery pickup is great. NO up charge, NO fee.

HEB charges 3% up charge PLUS $4.95.
Target has no fee for pickup, but won't do any perishable items.
