Are you in the city limits of San Antonio, by any chance? If so, I believe an ordinance was passed a few months ago that makes it a violation for anyone to call upon a resident in person, for the purpose of soliciting commercial products or services, at any residence that has a "No Soliciting" sign posted at the front door.

Do you have such a sign by your door?

If you place a "No soliciting" sign up and they still knock on your door, they are trespassing. Open the door, inform 'em you're calling the cops, and close it again.

You mean you don't tuck a revolver in your pants with the handle showing to scare them?

Might - or might be in a shoulder rig, or a holster on my hip. While on my property, I'm fully within my legal rights to be openly armed. I normally won't do such simply because it could be a neighbor - but I *have* on rare occassion done so....not to scare 'em, but simply because I might have just come in and taken a jacket/windbreaker off, etc.

I have a big No Soliciting sign on my front window, right next to the Magnum Research decal. I don't get too many people ringing my doorbell.

the sign worked for us (inside city limits). it was a real pain when no one realizes that we /are not awake/ during the times people come soliciting. just a dumb printout of no solicitation has kept lawn mowers, latter day saints, sales men, etc from ringing our doorbell.

or you can do what i did, and put the sign "deposit all religious and solicitation materials here" over a blue recycling bin on your porch.
