Is Oleander the big bush/ tree with white or pink flowers????

yes, it is... the flowers come in white, pink and red...

we actually did not know about Oleanders being toxic and we had 3 large ones in our backyard at our old house... We had a 70lb German Shepherd Dog that we found dead in the backyard one morning... We searched and searched for what could have killed her when I noticed that some leaves on the Oleander had been chewed... Then we noticed in her bile that there were a few leaf pieces...

This all happened betweent he hours of 11pm and 7am... so only 3 partially chewed leaves with a few ingested bits was enough to kill a 70lb dog...

Needless to say we removed the plants and killed off the roots...

From what I have heard the leaves have a sweet taste which makes them appealing to animals and kids...

They are also not tolerant of this weather. They love the hot, but cannot take the cold. I lost mine the winter before last and will not replant because I only want plants that can handle the actual weather we have here.
