That is interesting about the garlic, I had started taking garlic supplements- trying to lower my blood pressure naturally- avoiding the prescription meds...and about 1 month ago I stopped taking everything- my meds for blood pressure, garlic, fish oil, vitamin C, triglide.... and my stomach really feels better. I did start taking my prescribed blood pressure medicine and some peppermint capsules and I really have seen an improvement.

els make a very good point about IBS. It's sort of like treating someone for a "headache".

Celiac's disease

Ulcerative Colitis
Diverticulitis

and not to scare you, but I'd be remiss in mentioning colon cancer. The good news about CC is that you can catch pre-cancerous conditions early with the proper tests and not allow it to develop. Many digestive problems can create an environment where CC can develop, so it's best to stay ahead of that!

I'm sure there are others to add to the list. Getting tested for food allergies is almost a must with digestive disorders. But a good doctor (Internal Medicine or Gastro) should also run other tests, Upper and lower GI, CTS or xrays....and especially a colonoscopy. 40 is the new 50 in having a colonoscopy!

Good luck.....and don't hesitate to request any of these tests.

BTW - Dr Abdul Kahdri is an EXCELLENT internal medicine doctor. I'm not sure which hospitals he works out of...but he is super!

When we moved here, I had to get established with a new doctor and Dr Kahdri came highly recommended. He is indeed a super doctor. Doesn't rush you in and out and actually listens to you. I believe he might be associated with NE Baptist as his office is near there.

I'd be careful with the peppermint. A former coworker had an ulcer when she was barely 20 years old and the doctors said it was from the breath mints she ate. I didn't know that stuff was dangerous, but I guess it is if you take too much or are sensitive to it.
