Dining out for New Years Eve? Where?
I've looked at several restaurant's menus for New Years Eve, most are a set per person price and $85 seems to be the mean. Any past experiences to help me narrow it down? Any hidden gems I may be missing? Right now we're thinking about Kirby's Steakhouse at 281 & 1604 or Fig Tree Downtown. Any pros or cons to being downtown or should we stay close to home? Thanks!

I would go downtown and enjoy the fireworks after dinner. It's one of the best times to be there all year!

Way too many drunks on the road that no one is willing to address....(Just takes one to ruin your evening)

Downtown is the place to be, except we don't have to worry about drunks on the road.
We can stay home and relax and see the downtown fireworks extravaganza

Are they still doing the fireworks downtown?
Seems a little hypocritical considering the ban and whatnot.

If you're going to dine and celebrate downtown.....it's great to stay downtown too. I agree with the drunk driving prob. You know...the "other drivers".

The ban is to prevent people from setting off fireworks out of control, causing fires and damage.
The city has a pretty carefully controlled fireworks display at the Tower
Celebrate San Antonio!
Fireworks have been banned in the city every year since I've been here. The new part is that the county has banned them.

We ate at Kirbys for Valentines Day and it was not very good at all. I would stay away from any place that has a set menu. They cook the food early and bythe time you get it, yuck! i am sure they are good on other days when you can order off the menu. Ruth Chris is always good no matetr what day it is.

I can't comment on Kirby's but we often get the prix fixe menu at La Frite and it's always excellent!
