Safely Selling on Craigslist
Just wondering if anyone had any advise on the best/safest way to sell items such as toys and childrens clothing on San Antonios Craigslist? Do you just invite anyone over (give them your address) that inquires? Thanks in advance.

Even though I am single I will usually put something in the message like ... my husband and I or something to make them not realize I am home alone

I would recommend meeting at a fast food place with people around. Make sure to go to a place that has cameras that way if they rob you or whatever everything will be on camera.
Probably don't have to carry a gun unless the item is very expensive.

I gotta tell ya, I was a little concerned when I saw the next person to respond to this message was named killer2021 ... I'm thinking if you answered my Craigslist add with that name or email I'd probably have sold the item already!

I have always had difficulty selling childrens items on Craigslist. I have had lots of flakes and no shows, but that has just been my personal experience regarding those types of items. When I sold my couch and a refrigerator it was a piece of cake. I had the people meet me in my home and made sure my husband was in fact really there. If you have success selling your stuff and you do not have someone else to be there when you meet the person, then I definitely suggest meeting in an open, public place. GOOD LUCK!

i have sold a number of baby items on craiglist --- a stroller frame, a bouncy seat, etc...and i have always met at a public place --- once in the parking lot of a Target and once in the parking lot of Rooms to Go...
with the baby/kids toys i just took it all to Kids Junction on N W Military and i was quite surprised at what they gave me for it all, it wasn't too shabby considering it's a resale shop...
i currently have an item on craigslist that is located at my parents house, it's a piece of furniture that my mom wants to sell --- i am doing all the fielding of questions for them via email and i will go over there with my dh if/when someone wants to purchase it...

That's just the thing about using CL - you have to be prepared for responses that are 75-80% bunk. So once you get past that, you can do ok. I usually 1st/2nd/etc people, and then just go down the line when people don't show up. Only once or twice has someone come back and gotten upset when I sold the item after it took them too long to get back to me. Usually 2-3 days, but I ALWAYS respond with a phone number for them, so there's no excuse!
And I agree with meeting in a public place. And if you're worried about it, bring a friend. And try to make it daylight or a well lit place, cameras are a definite plus. I've never had an issue where I haven't felt safe tho.

look for the obvious such as living in another state or asking strange questions. I don't know what scam they are working, but I had that when I was selling a couch. Like someone is really going to drive from Colorado to SA for a couch.
and meet in a public place. I bought a Wii from CL and met the guy at a gas station half-way between us. It sorta looked like a drug deal, but nobody seemed to mind

I've sold a few items inluding a guitar worth 200$ on Craigslist. Be sure to meet in a public location like an HEB parking lot during the day or a gas station with alot of people around.
