We dont have a community pool in our neighborhood area and I believe you have to live in the neighborhood to go to swimming pools like Cassiano, Woodlawn, Dellview; etc.

I'm kind of new to the area and my son loves to swim! Where can I take him?

Are there any swimming holes in the area? I know Austin has theres with Barton Springs pool, but I'm looking for something here.

Can anyone help?

This page has a list of pools owned by the city. Some of the smaller towns, like Leon Valley, have pools too.

Oh, I didnt know that the pools I listed in my original post were owned by the city. In any case, I checked out the link and there's no pictures of the pools. (Googling for pictures didnt help either.)

I dont want some small pool, that's overcrowded.

Does anyone know any good places to go swimming outdoors?

San Pedro springs park, and lady bird Johnson are some of the better city ones. Alamo heights and windcrest require a membership, but do fun stuff like dive in movies and such.

They're all going to be crowded, even Alamo Heights which requires a membership (but you don't have to live in AH). All I've seen are fairly big and nice, just always crowded. It's been in the high 80s/90s pretty much since April 1, you can see why

speaking of public pools...

anyone from the marbach@ellison area: what's up with that pool that was renovated on ellison? i remember for the longest time it was abandoned and over grown. then it was renovated, and finished late summer last year. and so far it seems, to this day, it's still unused, though i see the fountains flowing and the lot is maintained. every time we drive past it it's always empty. i have no desire to use it, but it just seemed so weird to see a perfectly nice neighborhood pool being unused in this terrible heat.
