My wife and I are moving to SA from Nebraska with our 2 month old daughter. We are looking for housing. What do you think about the Converse area? What areas would you recommend in the 150k-170k range?

I would think you would want to live close to where you work at. Converse is a pretty nice area. You can find some shopping areas nearby which have just been built (walmart). Also a lot of little shops and of course the Forum is right down the road (on IH 35). Judson High School is right there in Converse and some other schools. There are a lot of choices in that area as far as 150-170k houses. I think most of the movement is going towards Schertz, Cibilo which is a couple of miles further down FM 78 (which is the road that runs right through Converse). Again it would be important to know where you plan on working.

Parts of Converse are nice. You can easily find housing in your price range, but that price range can take you many other places in San Antonio as well. Will you be working in or near Converse? If not, you may want to focus your search closer to where you will be working - don't forget that you will need to factor in traffic... much more traffic here than Lincoln (except maybe right before or right after an - ugh! - Husker game.) :-)
