I have had TWC for years now but my husband wants to switch to satellite. Our cable has "tiling" issues and he is just sick if dealing with TWC. But I think we have a pretty good deal as far as money is concerned. I wanted to see if anyone has experience with both cable and satellite and can shed some light on the situation. We have never had satellite so I am ignorant to that option. What do you think? cable or satellite?

Cables the better deal - satellite is the better quality - simply stated.

We just switched from TWC to AT&T U-Verse. The picture quality is vastly better and we don't even have HD. Also, we got a much better price than what we had with cable. We had a sweet deal with TWC for a year where we had all channels including premium channels plus a DVR and one add'l cable box on another TV. That was supposed to be for a monthly bill of around $88.00. Well, every month we got the bill, it would be higher than what we were told and every month we would spend anywhere from one to two hours on the phone with them trying to get it straightened out. We also had tiling issues. Our bill was going to go up to $145 when the deal was over so when the year was up, we switched.

We now have our Internet and TV both with AT&T with all the channels we had plus more and we pay $125 a month total. As I said, this includes the high speed wireless Internet so we are saving. We also got a deal where for 6 months we get $20 off each month's bill.

One more thing: with U-Verse, we can DVR up to 4 shows at the same time. With cable, we could only DVR 2 and you had to be watching one of them. We watch a lot of TV!

winolisa, that is a great review!

We're currently TWC customers - we have the cable/phone/RR combo package. We had Dish for a while, but had problem after problem from billing to reception. Of course, the way our house was situated, the techs could never figure out a good location for the dish and we got poor reception because of it!

TWC has been good to us - our bill hasn't been an issue, and we've been RR customers for years anyway. We get tiling now and then, but only (it seems) late at night, like 2-3 am!

I hadn't looked at U-Verse. Will definitely do so now!

2HD streams is being rolled out in San Antonio right now, should be done complete by months end. Some people already have 2hd right now.

I see this post was made more than a year ago, but winolisa, if you still visit these forums, I was wondering if you could say if you still feel as positively about AT&T U-Verse now as you did then. (We're beyond fed up with TWC and trying to find a decent alternative; AT&T DirectTV / Dish Network seem to both be pretty dreadful, sigh.)

There's nothing dreadful about DirecTV. It's simply the best option available for those that like a combination of quality, channel options and service. I've had it now for over three years and I've had nary a problem with it all this time. The sports packages, a particular interest of mine, are clearly superior on DTV. I like watching an NFL team that is not normally covered in this region, the Redskins, and with DTV's Sunday Ticket that is not a problem. I am able to get every single Redskins game as if I were still living in Northern Virginia. It's great.
