I am not trying to start a debate about the "Cash for Clunkers", or C.A.R.S. program.

I simply would like to know if anyone here in SA recently saw a TV Ad claiming that with the maximum "clunker" rebate of $4500 you could drive away in a new Kia for $2700 total.

I ask because my mom sent me an email about this. I don't watch TV, I didn't even know about this program until her email and then I had to Google it... but I have since tried to check it out, and I have not heard of any dealer offering deals and incentives to the point where one could buy a brand new car for $2700 TOTAL. $5000 to $6000 seems possible with certain cars, and there was ONE Kia something or other on a dealer site, bare bones, that would have been $3500 cash after their incentives and the $4500 "clunker" trade in... but $2700!? I think my mother is confused.

Did anyone else hear / see this ad or is she hearing things?

TIA

How many KIA dealers can there possibly be in SA? Seems like a phone call or two would answer this on Monday.

There are 3 dealers according to a search on Google: Legend, World Car (about 3 locations) and Ancira.

don't forget the last car like the one advertised was sold earlier this morning, though
I too saw that ad and it did get my attention. I know you can get the bottom of the barrel Kia for below $8K. It's true they are far from the best cars in the world, but quality across the board has gone up quite a bit lately, so it's nothing like the Yugo or the original Hyundai's.

This RIO would be a little under $3500 if you could get the max $4500 CARS money. http://kia.ancira.com/Specials-New.aspx

KIA is still a KIA means crap is still crap. I have never seen that many KIAs in a city except here in SA.
