Statements like "I think we are there", "I think we are in good shape", and "Now, we must wait on google to make it's next move", don't tell me this is a done deal.

Ditto. I will believe it when I see Google themselves making the official announcement.

Otherwise it is just "I read it on the internet....that so and so said this and blah blah."

What tells me they are coming is that Google is currently seeking an Outside Plant Engineering Manager and a Fiber City Manager for San Antonio. They have to positions posted on LinkedIn and the Google site.

Been waiting for google fiber ever since it was announced....Time Warner Vs Google up in Utah has been a bloodbath and fun to read...competition is great for the consumer ...

too long has TWC had the upperhand in SA that is about to come to a screeching halt with GF coming up once it gets here I am jumping ship... Google caught them off guard in Utah and they lost lots of subscribers that is why they are upping the bandwidth but right now I am paying 70.00 for 1mb upload and 10 mb download??? really??? I've been in Jakarta, Indonesia with faster internet a 3rd world country that is really SAD

Laters TWC

Some of us remember how long it took to roll out cable TV in the 70s.

Even if it were announced tomorrow that GFiber is coming, it's important to realize that it will take Google a year and a half of building plants and digging trenches for them to roll it out to any customers. It could be as many as 10 years or more to make it available citywide... if they ever do that.

Default I remember that,

Hell even the late seventies my folks did not have cable television at home. You are probably right.
