CPS trucks and heavy equipment have been crawling all over this area 24/7 since Saturday, and our gas has been off since Saturday. Luckily we haven't needed the heat yet, but the worst part is the water heater doesn't work, and it's too cold for a cold shower!! They haven't told us anything, and there is nothing on their website. Express News website is also silent. CPS is digging up the whole neighborhood and you can smell gas very strongly. I am guessing that there is a gas leak somewhere and they cannot locate it? Seems a little worrisome; they seem to be worried too since they have been working quite literally around the clock over Thanksgiving weekend, but they won't tell us anything. We asked the workers and they just say the gas will be turned back on "soon", whatever that means. It appears our yard will be dug up next; they have placed flags and sprayed orange spray paint everywhere. It would be nice if they told us what is going on, especially if there is a potential safety issue!!

It got down to a low of 63 inside our house overnight, but it was up to 67 by the time I left for work this morning. That's not unbearable with warm clothing and blankets. We have an electric space heater we can use if needed. We usually don't use the heat anyway, unless it gets below 40-45 degrees outside. That saves on our energy bill, for sure!

Have you tried calling them. I would try that first and then if that didn't work I would be in their offices in person. That's a long time to be without heat or hot water this time of year. The local news folks would love this story.

Not yet. From personal experience I know it is often hard to get through to a person, espcially with widespread outages like this, so I was trying to wait it out. But I will definitely call them if I get home tonight and it is still off.

Just like SnappyBob said above, I would be in their office in person to get answers, or call any of the 5 local stations. They'll get the answer for you! CPS should have notified the community about what is going on, for the reason being without gas for a few days. Good Luck with the issue.
