Hello All!

I'm a divorce, mother of two (oldest in college), thinking of relocating to the Temecula area this coming summer. I've been reading the postings and replies, and it seems like Temecula residents are a bit pretentious. As a mother of a tween, looking to rent before buying, I am worried that my child and I will be ridiculed and looked down upon as renters. I'm from city where apartment living is normal. Would renting a house vs. an apartment help to smooth the transition?
What is usually included in renting a house?
I lived in GA for 4 yrs ( I owned my home), I remember the looks and whispers parents who lived in apt complex around the subdivisions would get. They were not treated well or welcomed by the school staff or the people in the community... could the same happen in Temecula?
I'm looking for a new start, a smaller town than my current city, with good schools and a slower pace. The last thing I need is to walk into a battle field.

Calling it a battle field is a bit of a stretch. If you live in an apartment complex then most likely there will be other kids your childs age who live there as well. When your child first makes friends at school how do the other kids know that your child lives in an apartment? Maybe eventually they will figure it out but it shouldn't really matter. You might be making this more then it really is.
There are more houses then apartments in Temecula
As far as apt vs. house rental, this all depends on what your budget is and what you prefer. I don't rent but if I did I would want to rent a house because I like my space and yard. It all depends on your personal preference and what your budget is.

More to the point, how would anyone but your closest neighbors know you're renting a house vs owning it? I sense someone here who creates a lot of her own drama.
