I think we've pretty much narrowed our home search down to Eastvale. What are thoughts on new construction vs an established neighborhood? I've never bought new, and whether it's a "better deal" seems to vary based on locations across the US. What are the pros and cons to each in the Eastvale area? I am considering a new build. Thanks!

Irrespective of any particular area in California, the newer the house, the safer in regard to compliance with the latest earthquake codes, which are made more stringent after every major quake.

a friend bought a house in eastvale. when they were out for work, someone broke into their house. when the alarm went off, the burglar just climbed over the fence. they suspect the burglar is just a neighbor for he knows when the occupants are away

Not a big fan of new subdivisions. I'd rather get something decent in a nice established area and slowly repair the house as I go. But that's just me

We used to live in an older established great neighborhood. Pro: location, location, location. Con: costly repairs and upkeeps. We finally got tired of that and moved to a new construction. We have been pleased with the decision.
