Hello! We are moving from Lake Oswego, OR to Temecula, CA. FAST! I have one week to make many decisions. Our son will be in fourth grade. We are focusing on south Temecula and will rent for a few months. We are going to buy and looking at Paseo del Sol, Crowne Hill and Morgan Hill right now. Husband will work in Temecula. I am not a big fan of squishy lots and neighborhoods cluttered with cars. My hope is our son will be able to step outside and find lots of nice kids to play with.

Our temp housing is zoned for Abby Reinke. Schools are our number one priority and we will select a home based on that. We are also looking at Ranch Christian and would consider private if it isn't too costly. I can't seem to locate after school activities that take place at Abby Reinke other than after school care?? Is there a separate place where I can find class offering for STEM, music, etc.,?

Swim team. He is on swim team now and I want him to continue. I see there are two in Temecula. We want one with a small family friendly vibe that is fun with good coaches but not intense. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Paseo and crown hill are good spots. Morgan hill is farther from everything and more expensive and higher taxes. I would add vintage hills, Chardonnay hills, Serena hills, temecu hills(very central golf community with low taxes) and finally meadowview (custom homes on large lots) to your list.

Welcome to Temecula! Lake Oswego is beautiful. I hope you will find Temecula beautiful as well. We live on the south side and love it. Something to consider regarding schools is that some of the schools in the district are impacted. This means you can't transfer if you're zoned for another school. You want to look at the schools your home will be zoned for from elementary through high school. That said, I feel most schools in Temecula are pretty great, and would probably be happy for my kids to attend most of the schools in the district. If you're not already aware of the great schools website, it's a great resource. If you're interested in possibly going the private school route I would check out Linfield as well. I've heard great things about both Rancho and Linfield.

To find activities for your son you can look at website for Abby Reinke and find the "peachjar" logo on the main page. You'll find all the flyers for activities here. During the school year you'll receive them in email. To find city sponsored activities you can go to the City of Temecula website and select "kids" from the City Services tab. From there "register for a class". You can see what they have to offer there. We've done a few activities through the city and they've always been good experiences.

Best of luck to you on your move!

River Springs Charter School and Temecula Valley Charter school are also options. My girlfriend sent her son to Temecula Valley and I know they have a STEM program.

Thank you all for the fantastic information? Any thoughts on Tony Tobin vs. Rancho Christian?

Temecula Preperatory is also a great charter school, but very popular and usually full, it often requires winning a lottery pick.

My daughter is in Tony Tobin. We have been very happy about the school so far. Of course, Rancho Christian has great reviews too. You can't go wrong with either school.
