Considering a move to Rancho Cucamonga or surrounding area, would be a renter of a 2-3 bedroom place, family of 4. Opening for a transfer with my husbands work but until you apply and are interviewed for the position no info is given on salary. We are coming from out of state and all we are told is there would be cost of living increase.....just need a general idea on how much is needed to "make it" in the area so once they tell us the salary we will know if its "do" able....Thanks!

According to CD, Rancho Cucamonga's 2008 cost of living index was 130.4 (US average is 100)

Look up your city where you are now, and compare - it will at least give you a rough estimate.

I'll agree with Gandalara, above- use an online cost-of-living comparison calculator, such as this one from bankrate.com: Cost of Living comparison calculator

According to this one, if you're making $50K in the Salt Lake City metro area, you'll need to make about $74K to have a comparable standard of living in that area of the IE. Now, I don't know exactly where you live or what he's making now, but that's just an example.

Good luck!

Thanks so much you guys....that is what I was looking for. We are close to SLC area so that is a great comparison dweej. I'm not looking to go fancy or big, just comfy & safe.

Thanks for the cost of living calculator dweej. So much cheaper for us to live in the Inland Empire compared to NYC so a nice move for us financially among other things (e.g. WEATHER).
