As San Diego is a Navy town, what would happen if Iran and the Navy start a shooting war? Frequently the freeway exit early AM north of National City is backed up several miles. I also wondered if we would be hearing more air traffic in and out?

Iran doesn't have a big enough Navy and no friendly allies to support their own navy base in the region. And even if they did start something they'd get owned pretty quick.

I'm not sure what you mean, are you referring to the traffic issues for San Diegans if the Navy Bases have a more restrictive base entry policy in place? As for air traffic, I doubt that would be a San Diego issue, Japan, Europe and to a lesser extent Hawaii would probably see bomber flight activity. Fighter activity would be from the two to three Aircraft Carriers in the area. Just my opinion.

Thanks. In Alaska I live close to Elmendorf. We can always tell when things are ramping up. wondered if it is true here. one can always feel when they are on alert just a tension in the air. lots more cars at the entraces and earlier in the morning. lots more troopers on the road.

Some people believe that the bombing of Capt. Rogers' minivan in 1989 was related to Iranian terrorism in retaliation for the USS Vicennes shoot down of Iran Air 655, although officials attribute this as a local criminal act.

William C. Rogers III - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That's the only local relation I can recall to US-Iranian tension.

Now an increase in potential terrorist acts is a real concern. But the oil revenues for Iran and getting their product to market (Straits of Hormuz) is as important to the Iranians as it is to Europe and Asia. I think the Iranians are doing a lot of Saber-rattling, but nothing else. The squeeze of our embargo is having a real affect and that is why they are squealing. But again, the Mullahs are a wierd lot, so someone could be enticed into some act that would cause a chain reaction - I pray that will not be the case.

I pray that it will not be the case, too.

They are already threatening retaliation for the assassinations of their nuclear scientists.
