You need to tell us what you want in a neighborhood. Also, do you or your husband have jobs lined up? If not, have a large savings cushion before you think about moving here.

What is your maximum budget? Are you buying or renting? How old is your son?

Pacific Beach is a real nice area. Cost is quite high thou,
Clairmont is for the most part a really good area as well.

Default thanks for answers

Hi, thanks a lot for all the answers.
Our son is 2 years old, and no we do not have a job yet but have savings.
However we want to be in a very safe and nice area! I have been checking apartments around and found a lot for 1050-1200 range. do you think it is the range for a 1 BR good area apartment?
thanks

What area are the apartments in? How much do you plan to have saved? You're going to need a very larage cushion to hold you until you find jobs, and no one knows how long that will take. What type of work do you/your husband do? What do you call a very safe and nice area?

With regard to PB, stay away from Garnet. It used to be a family friendly area with mom and pop shops, but it has become one long row of alternating bars and tattoo parlors. It may be the place your son wants to go party when he's 21, but at 2, he will probably be better off a good distance from that scene.

Clairemont is okay, but some parts of Clairemont Drive and Clairemont Mesa Blvd are less than optimal.

At 2, you are not far from school age, and may want to be thinking about the quality of the schools. Poway may be worth some research.

Finding a job and figuring out the commute should be a high priority in this equation.

There is a new apartment complex called Cresta Bella in Rancho Penasquitos, and they are having Specials right now. Penasquitos is in a nice area with great schools for the future.
