Greetings:

I have an early morning flight tomorrow and might be at SAN as early as 5:30-5:45AM....my experience with Terminal 2 is that the TSA precheck directly next to American Airlines is closed as many times as it is open, regardless of time of day due to chronic understaffing (something I do not experience at almost every other airport I fly through). I find I have had far more success going to the other entrance at the far end of Terminal 2 by Delta.

Has anybody had experience going through this other entrance at Terminal 2 as early as 5:30 - 5:45AM and was Precheck open at that time??...I could use the extra half hour of beauty rest if I know there is a good probability TSA will actually have enough staff to support the opening of the precheck lanes at that time.

Thanks

I just did this last week for a 6:30AM flight. Arrived at SAN at 5:30 and went through the TSA Pre-Check line at the American terminal. There were two or three agents working and one was focused exclusively on Pre-Check passengers. Got through in a couple of minutes.

I usually travel in the mid afternoon when there's no one working the Pre Check line for the reasons you point out.

Safe travels!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've gone through that early before.
