Ok, so I'm a bit confused with a few nuances of living on the west coast/San Diego so I figure I start a "What's Up With That" line of questioning to help answer my questions about weird things I see around town that I don't understand. Hopefully it will catch on and others will follow suit with thier observations they can't explain in town. Without further ado:

So driving down the highway today I noticed quite a few passenger vehicles (mostly passenger vans) and some semi's with two license plates. One a Cailfornia one, and one from Baja California. What's up with that?

Any advantage to doing this for the owners of these vehicles? Obviously it can't be illegal since soo many vehicles have them, but these owners are paying for vehicle registration in two states/countries and everything that goes with registering these vehicles.

I have only ever seen this with business vehicles/work trucks, never with personal vehicles. If you are going to do cross border business in CA, especially in transportation, I suppose it needs to be legitimate.
