Hello , I am prepared to be laughed out of this forum which I'm ok with .

I have a dream of calling San Diego home . I would be looking at sometime next spring ( 2017)

My job will be paying roughly 17 an hour but I can add extra shifts and take overtime . Roommate comming with me will find employment once there . And my job is located at the airport .

I know I probably can't afford to live anywhere there but people obviously do it .

So my question is what areas do I look or suburbs do I look to find a one bedroom apartment in ?

I don't need fancy but I don't want a crackhouse in a gang and crime ridden neighborhood either .

1200 I would say is the high end of my budget . One bedroom .

And with that said how far inland or away from downtown does the weather change from that perfect San Diego weather and start being 90-100+ and humid and just terrible like the valley of la

For Perfect Weather, stick to west of the 5.
For Very Good weather, look to west of the 805.
For Good weather, west of the 15.
For Mixed weather, between the 15 and the Inland Valleys represented by La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee.

What is your age range? If you are in your 20s or 30s, I would suggest North Park, University Heights, or Normal Heights. Finding something within your price range will be difficult but not impossible in the first two. It will be easier in Normal Heights. The beach communities (OB, PB, MB and Pt Loma), Downtown (including Little Italy), Hillcrest, Mission Hills, western Clairemont, and Mission Valley will probably be beyond your price range, but you can look. You might find something in South Park, Golden Hill and Talmadge. The first two have better proximity to the airport, weather, and neighborhood businesses.

While there are many other factors to consider. What is the absolute worst that happens? You come down and find that that it is too expensive or that you don't like it. Sounds like your work is flexible and you could move back.
