Nah, my reading comprehension is fine. You're just salty because I made you you look silly for suggesting that our good weather is the reason for San Diego's low crime rate. What about the lower than average poverty rate and higher than average educational attainments and median household incomes?

Check out how the safest cities in the list below are mostly in the Northeast and Midwest.

Wow only Imperial CA was on the entire list.

These numbers look bogus to me. Del Mar is mostly wealthy old white people. Unless they call the cops when the neighbors don't wave at them, and report it as a violent microaggression, I don't see it.

But, I agree, San Diego is a nice place to be, even if it isn't perfect.
I was also confused by this. Does she live in LA? La La Land is definitely a nickname for LA.

Often times communities with the most popular beaches will have higher crime and crime rates. Low resident population (denominator), high visiting population to be preyed upon (numerator). This is why places like Mission Valley, Gas Lamp, and Pacific Beach also have higher crime rates.

Beach goers getting into fisticuffs
Cars parked in beach lots getting car prowled
Petty thefts of beach stuff
Beach stores getting shop lifted

For those interested in the official 2017 crime statistics for SD, below is a great link breaking everything down. Some highlights:

Number of murders in San Diego city - 34 (Down from 50 in 2016). Crazy low for a population of 1.3 million.

Number of murders in Chula Vista - 0 (CV has a bad reputation, but the stats prove otherwise)

Number of murders in Oceanside - 9 (High for a smaller city)

Number of murders in National City - 3 (Another area with a bad rep)

Number of murders in Coronado and Carlsbad - 0 (No surprise here)

Total murders in San Diego Metro - 75 (Down from 102 in 2016)

Not to sound racist but the reality of statistics shows that the majority of violent crimes in America are committed by the African-American population, which San Diego does not have a lot of. Economics is another factor as well as most people in San Diego are financially well (you have to be to afford to live there). San Diego doesn't have that thug culture that many other American cities have. The worst you see is the wannabe poser thugs I used to see at the Mission Valley Mall. Areas such as Logan Heights or City Heights that are considered ghetto by San Diego standards would be considered nice neighborhoods if compared with the worst hoods of Chicago.

San Diego is like Tokyo with how safe it is. I once knew someone who lost his wallet in San Diego and was turned in to the police station with everything in it.
