Is it just me or is there a ton of trash and litter on the freeway these days? Are litter pick ups not happening because of Covid? I noticed yesterday the 94 going into downtown in particular looks horrible!

It's everywhere, not just on the freeway, and my street is literally a dump. I don't bother reporting it anymore, and only report encampments now.

I haven't really noticed, as I've been staying home for the most part. That virus thing, you know...

Absolutely.

One big source of trash- I’ve noticed a lot of lost items from folks not securing items on open bed trucks they start going 70 plus on the highway and stuff flies out or the folks that are hauling too much and losing items.

Police do not question these overhauls too much and they don’t care or aren’t around enough to see the careless people that don’t secure items on their vehicles.

I passed a heap of junk on the side of the highway for entire week last month before it was removed. It seems like road cleanup crews are stretched thin too

I was in the Home Depot parking Lot on Sat and the parking lot had trash all over. Almost like people are dumping it on purpose.
Man as this pandemic whines down I think we will finally see the true damage. I’ve been telling everyone I know to, save their money. There’s going to be a fire sale at the end of this that will make the 1999 padres proud.

I haven't noticed an increase on the freeways but I don't doubt it. There was a pile of what looked like clothes and god-knows-what-else dumped on the curb somewhere on my way to Santee a few weeks ago. It's been there every time I've driven by since. And it's not like there aren't houses by it who might have an interest in removing it but I guess it's low priority in that neighborhood.

Yes. Exactly. Like it's just flagrantly dumped for the sake of dumping it.

Also the crazy weed farms growing in the medians. In my neighborhood some of the local folks took care of it themselves. A lot of work!

I wish I was a police or highway patrol officer just to hand out dozens of $1000 littering tickets every day. Not that all the trash is from motorists but since you have to allow the homeless to do anything they damn well please in this city at least you can get the utter trash types of people who toss crap from their cars.

Do you think the weeds and trash everywhere there are due to cuts in state employees like Caltrans and street sweeping? If so Ca is in a world of hurt and this is just the beginning. I live in Az and the roads look exactly the same .... very clean and smooth.
