Hey everyone, I will be moving to San Diego in Jan. of next year, but I will be working in Pt Loma...What is the better idea, to live in Mission Valley near Mission Valley shopping center, or take my chances downtown (near Horton Plaza mall)? How does the driving time look like at 6pm from Pt Loma to Mission Valley or downtown? I was told that I can take Friars road back to MV to escape afternoon traffic, and Harbor Dr to get to downtown...I'm looking at 18-1900/mo for rent, so either way, it's coming down to driving time/conditions of the area. Thanks in advance!

Any reason that you're not thinking of living in Point Loma? It's a beautiful area.

Actually, I would'nt mind at all finding a place in Pt Loma. It's just that my wife does not yet drive, and having something within walking distance for her to work(that's safe) would be ideal (She's a Food and Beverage hotel manager by trade--another reason why I thought MV and Downtown would be nice). I've been looking on Craigslist, ForRent.com, Rent.com to just get a feel for the housing market, and apparently, 18-1900 isn't a whole lot of money in San Diego. Ultimately,
i'm interested in a 2br/1.5-2ba type of place. It's just that the apartments that I see in MV and Downtown/Marina are beautiful!
