Can anyone tell me any info about the Tanglewood townhomes in Carlsbad?? I'm about to sign a lease sight unseen (although I have photos so I know the home is in good cond.) but really want more info on the neighborhood. It seems really close to everything, 2 miles to the beach & old town Carlsbad, but is this area ok overall? I have a very young daughter and want to be in a safe neighborhood. It's just east of El Camino and north of Carlsbad Village Dr. To me (all the way in Chandler AZ) it looks great, but if anyone could provide me with some specifics it would be a fantastic help!!

Well, signing a lease sight unseen isn't something that I would do or would recommend doing, but Tanglewood is a good neighborhood overall. By "Carlsbad" standards it isn't the best family neighborhood. By "most other place" standards it would be considered a safe and very nice neighborhood. It has a community pool, but there isn't much in the way of parks or anything within walking distance. I really think that it depends on who your neighbors are there because you're sharing walls.

Von's grocery store is right down the hill as well as the Carlsbad Mall. That mall can attract a little bit of trouble, so I wouldn't drop a kid off there by herself to hang out at the mall, but overall, it's fine. It's hard to judge what a person will think of an area because it really depends on the area that they came from and what they are comfortable with. I would recommend getting a weekend flight to check it out first before you lock yourself into a year lease.
