My wife and I are considering purchase of a 4 BR/2.5Bath ATTACHED home in a neighborhood called "The Trails" in the Calavera Hills neighborhood of Carlsbad. We really wanted to purchase a detached home but prices just have not come down enough yet.

"The Trails" is a small pocket neighborhood of all Attached twinhomes directly across the street from Hope Elementary school which gets great reviews. This would be great for our two young daughters.

I was hoping to get some feedback from someone with firsthand knowledge of that neighborhood and/or the areas around it.

Currently we live in La Costa in an incredibly safe condo complex, so we live a bit of a sheltered life! But we have simply outgrown our condo.

The Trails complex seems really nice but there were a few houses with what I would call "gang banger" looking cars. But we did look at the house on a sunday morning at 10:00 am and the neighborhood was incredibly quiet.

I live in Calavera Hills, in a community called Barrington. The community is very safe and quiet. There is a community rec center owned by the city of Carlsbad that is close to where you are looking. It has many activities for adults and children to sign up for. Hope elementary is an established school, and I haven't heard a bad thing about it. You will be happy with the neighborhood. Good luck.
