Any idea of commute time this route? Could do it slightly off-peak, say 830 a.m. - 6 p.m... Thanks!

Plan on 45+ minutes. 8:30 - 6 is peak time, San Diego gets a late start. You will hit fairly solid traffic through S. Carlsbad - Encinitas - Del Mar, it opens up after that. Going home is the bad commute, solid from Mira Mesa past Via de la Valle and it can be very slow. A lot of my co-workers do it and most complain about it, if you can do 7-4 it seems better.

The other thing to consider that will add greatly to your commute time is how long you'll have to drive on surface streets before you hit the freeway. From SEH, you'd take Rancho Santa Fe Road to Poinsettia (or Aviara) all the way across to the 5. It's like 6 miles or so of stop lights and traffic that is moving but still ...
I guess I'd still agree with Sassberto's 45 min estimate each way, give or take a few.

If you can do it 9:30 to 7, you can get closer to 30 minutes.

Thanks a lot. Sounding like 45 minutes is a pretty common commute around the county, based on some other reading I'm doing here. Used to live in North Park, left in early 90s and sold the little bungalow for around 170k... well things have certainly changed

I do an Oceanside to Sorrento Valley/Mira Mesa commute 3 days a week; it's gotten a lot better...

K, thx, guess the employment(un) has changed commute times all over to some degree...

Sassberto, i like your icon... haven't decided yet if i'll dis-assemble the miniramp in the garage and bring it or wait and build a new one if this move happens...
