Wow, that is amazing. Oakland Tech's turnaround is remarkable, and Oakland High is getting respectable too. Unfortunately with McClymonds, not so much.

Im very impressed by Oakland Tech and Oakland High as well as Edna Brewer Middle School.

Things are definitely improving but we all acknowledge that there is still a lot to be done, but we are definitely headed in the right direction. Great thread Stephen, too bad I can't rep you.

Yeah, I really appreciate the fact that such a huge number of schools have increased their scores so dramatically.

I've always wondered why Cleveland Elemantary has scored so much better than Lakeview when they're virtually in the same neighborhood. I guess it's a moot point since (last I read) Lakeview is closing, but those kinds of discrepencies always puzzled me about the OUSD.

I'm glad KIPP is going strong. It'll be good if Hoover can join the 800+ club in a couple of years, and other West Oakland schools improve.

Didn't Oakland's public school generally have nowhere to go but up, anyway?
