The guy looks pretty short. But he's leaning. Still, I'd say maybe around 5'2, roughly.

You'd still require emergency response crews if someone is stuck in a net below the bridge or is wading in the water (alive) beneath the bridge, LOL

In fact, wouldn't you actually need them then?

Certainly plenty of people die from the fall from the bridge to water, but a good many die, in part, thanks to hypothermia or drowning. Hence, criminals didn't often survive escapes from Alcatraz.

And if they survive, they may then attempt a different method. Either way, you can't legislate people's behaviours.

What about the stories of people who were turned away from jumping and instead ran into oncoming traffic?

Quoting the Coroner.

if you want to kill youself in SF, just go down to 16th and mission and ask some junkie to shoot you or O.D. you on heroin. they'll do it for $100.00. better to jump on the BART tracks or in front of CALTRAIN than jump off the bridge.

seriously folks, maybe the orig. poster wants to create a GGbridge photoshop project or something therefore wanting to know the height of the rail?

The rail is 4 feet tall, there are talks about raising it to 10-12 feet though.
