Hi everyone!

After my 2 years contract ended, I've been paying an arm and a leg for cable and internet with Comcast (around $200/month including all fees and taxes). The internet is crappy: It's slow (100Mbps) and the connection also keeps dropping. For cable, all I really care about is NBA and HBO.

For internet
I am thinking of switching to Sonic. It's 1 Gbps for around $60/month.

For Cable
I can get HBO NOW for $15/month. But where can I watch sports? If I am not mistaken Warriors games are shown on NBC Sports Bay Area (also called CNBC?). I remember seeing some games on TNT and ESPN too. Am I missing any other channels? What alternatives do I have for these, if I get rid of Comcast?

Has anyone tried YouTube TV?

For sports I use Sling TV, its similar to Netflix, but it's live TV... they have ESPN and it runs about $20 per month

Thanks. Is it HD? Also ESPN is not enough. I need local sports channel: NBC Sports Bay Area.

Just found out Sonic provides Internet+TV bundle with DISH network. Anybody has any feedback on that?

I get all Warriors games, ESPN and TNT thru Sling TV on Roku. The Sling TV package is about $60 a month with fees and taxes.

You can always get an Fire Stick that has Cody downloaded. One time price and everything is free and on there. I don't have one, but a lot of friends do

Thanks for the tip on Sling. I heard of it, but I didn't know they have regional sports network. Looks like Sling Blue does have NBC or Comcast Sports Bay Area.

I have DirecTV. I'm paying $65 for 2-year rate. It is the Choice package ($105) + DVR ($0) + regional sports network ($5) - 2-year discount ($45). After 2-year is up, not clear what I discount I can get at that time. I basically jump back and forth between directv and comcast to get the 1 year intro rates.

For Sling, looks like I need to get Sling Orange ($20) to get ESPN and Disney. Plus Sling Blue $25 to get regional sports network. $5 discount if getting both Orange and Blue. Cloud DVR is $5 more. But that is on the cloud, so not sure how good or bad it works. DVR doesn't work on Mac OS and not all channels are available, but doesn't say which channels.

So looks like Sling does have slight discount, $45 vs Directv for $65 (1-year intro rate).

Sonic + Sling (and Netflix + Hulu) is the way to go if you're cutting the cord. I cut Comcast a few years ago (first to ATT and then to Sonic) and I have not regretted it.

I don't use Sling, but I've heard good things about it.
