Yeah! Love going to A's games at Oakland Coliseum, as well as Raider's games! Great for the local economy also!

If Wolff is now resigned to staying in Oakland, hopefully he and Fisher next realize they might as well begin taking Oakland's perceived efforts to get a new stadium built seriously. On the other side of that, Oakland can't afford to squander this opportunity.

You are welcome. Hopefully some forthcoming mayor can get a project done in the next 10 years.

I've read this for a few weeks now, but Oakland officials are stuck between wanting to keep the A's and wooing the Raiders with a new stadium. I say screw the Raiders, they left for L.A. and ruined the Coliseum for baseball when they came back, so I think the A's should get the royal treatment for once.

Not even Jerry Brown's plans were realized until he was out of office.

The NIMBY culture is especially cruel in Oakland because they will go so far as to oppose projects in order to preserve grit. Brooklyn Basin was in legal limbo for years and 'preservationists' were essentially saying that dilapidated warehouses were preferable to the mega project that will bring thousands of jobs and create an entirely new focal point of vibrancy in the city.

It's not the mayors(except for totally absent Dellums) that have been the problem, its been Oaklanders.

The A's have the sweetest parking, concessions, ticket revenue deal in baseball. After you tally what they pay to be in Oakland vs what they get in return, the city and county pretty much pay them to be there. We actually take a loss. This is part of why so many city council members are tepid about the team being here.

What needs to happen imo is Wolff+Fisher need to get together with Knauss+friends and hash out the details for Howard Terminal ASAP.

Otherwise, what's the point of asking for a 10-year lease if your going to moan and whine the whole time?

I suspect they are posturing themselves into a position where they can sell the team. Or at least I hope that's what theyre doing.

The new Warriors owner recently expressed interest and Ive been reading that they might be pondering building a new arena next to the a new A's stadium at Howard Terminal, of course at this point that's pure speculation.

We shall see.

I know I am always the rain on this parade, but there is no lease agreement as of yet and the situation has been at the same impasse for months: satisfy one team or the other. Lazy journalism on a slow day, perhaps.

Oakland hopes to work something out with Raiders before A’s | ProFootballTalk

Common sense says you go for ten times as many home games, but the Raiders have always had magic powers over stupid Oakland pols.

I dont see anyone celebrating.

With Lew Wolff, until agreements are legally binding we have to take everything with a grain of salt.

But the fact that the team is openly talking about a 10-year extension at the.coliseum is great news to me, not because the coliseum is awesome, but because I see this ten-year lease as the chance to finally get the team to be openly on board with a new stadium in Oakland.

And I agree about Oakland pols. What a bunch of putzes.

If there were a way to get the team owners in friendly conversation with potwntial buyers and/or developers, that would be great.

They bought the team for around 180 million dollars(if I recall correctly) and Ive seen valuations now as high as 3-4 times that. Ijs.
