I've been watching this all for awhile now. I'm not impressed with the new city building, it's not the style I like looking at or walking around in, so I don't know if this will be a destination for me. Especially if it's billed as being "a place for teenagers to hang out". Hahah!

San Ramon's new city center is nice, although the outside is not that appealing to me. It certainly is NOT a quaint, old feeling downtown. A modern, upscale feel to it, but once inside the city center, it is nice, good areas for kids, good food, and the theater is very nice. Just get a free membership to see a film for $12, otherwise it is $19. Yikes! The city center is still adding more tenants. Perhaps because it is not full yet, parking is easy, and traffic, so far, getting in and out is not too bad. However, it could get worse, since there is only so much widening you can do for the main road near the City Center (Bollinger Canyon Road).

Pleasanton's downtown is quite nice, as is Danville's. San Ramon and Dublin do not really have a downtown like those two cities.

San Ramon's City Center is awful imo. The design is so sterile and feels nothing like a "downtown/town center/Main St" at all. They really blew it with that development, doesn't look like the city will ever have a nice, vibrant downtown.

Livermore's downtown is and has been great. Far better than Pleasanton. Every town around has tried to copy what they did here.
We are an empty nester couple that likes live music and friendly people. Many dining choices, beer/wine houses.. A large live event theatre that gets the B-lister live acts, with a lawn park and live concerts in the summer.. A new movie theatre plus the fantastic Vine Cinema, an old world movie theatre that plays indies and offbeats...with food and wine /beer delivered to you as you sit the couches. All this and a few blocks of genuinely historic buildings and neighborhoods. Mixed in with new construction.

You wont find the antique stores like in Sutter Creek or Petaluma maybe.. They got pushed out to be replaced by eateries. In my mind it's a better thing.

Fountains, greenspace..And of course the wineries. Hiking, Biking and hot weather in the summer, cold nights in the winter.. I like that.

There is a lot of infighting in the local community at the moment about how to expand the downtown. But that has not diminished the existing REdevelopment they did and they did it well in the early 2000's.

We've been in Livermore since 1985. Intended to stay 5 years and move back to Alameda. It's a great place.
