Dolores Park hit again by vandals - SFGate

This is a common occurrence and I'm sure it wasn't committed by a tech person earning a good income. This is one of the main reasons why I like gentrification because unfortunately there is a very real correlation between low income people and crime/vandalism/etc.

what in that article led you to the conclusion that the perpetrators were 'low income people'? If you think 'high income' kids don't get drunk and commit acts of vandalism you need to think again.

So true. The article said vandalism was common in GG Park, too, and that's not in a low-income area.

OP, you're naive about high-income kids. Some can feel entitled, and take for granted that any trouble they might get into will be fixed by their lawyer dad or uncle. Be careful what you wish for. And I don't think it's a good idea that middle-class families feel priced out of the city, either.

It's all fine and good if you are wealthy enough to afford to rent or buy in the city. Or if you were there long enough to have purchased low or have rented a rent control apartment years ago but for anyone else trying to get in it is a nightmare.

All these people who are looking for a 100% "gentrified" Bay Area where only people making $150k can afford are goin to be really happy when there is mo one who can afford to live in the area to staff their favorite coffee shop, beer garden, bistro, clean their house, tend their garden, watch their kids or drive their ubers.

Then "gentrification" is going to look amazing.

Everybody realizes that it's the unaffordability of entire cities, or city cores, to working class people that causes all the insane traffic congestion, right?

I meant, it could get weird if all the service people have to live in the East Bay and Daly City, and commute to the city to staff the hotels, restaurants and coffee shows. It's already weird enough.

That's optimistic to think those places are affordable to service workers, especially considering that you'd need a car, as most transit ends at midnight, and many service workers work later than that or hours outside of transit access.
