Hi everyone

I got a job offer up in Redwood City(I am currently living in LA). I was wondering if anyone has had experience living near the area by Target around Woodside Rd/El Camino Real. I found a pretty good deal on a 1 bedroom and was wondering if that area is safe to walk around at night or if there are violent crimes in that neighborhood.

It is not the greatest area but probably OK safety wise.

I've never had any trouble there but there are sketchy types hanging out at night near the auto parts store in front of Target.

I know people who won't shop at Target after dark. Regardless of immediate area, there is significant gang activity in Redwood City.

One thing to keep in mind when looking for housing is that easy freeway access (like you have in this instance via Woodside Road) makes homes attractive for smash-and-grabs. Although that may not make any difference since police no longer respond to property crimes.
