Of Course.

Where is my drove?

The irony of this scenario is if this mass move were to take place it would drive housing prices through the roof in these "cheaper" locations. Ya know why housing is so expensive in Silicon valley? (hint: the tech industry)

It has nothing to do with the Trump tax cuts. It has everything to do with the extremely high California taxes, and extremely high cost of housing, and other necessities.

People will want to move to area with low property taxes.... Like Texas where the property tax is sky high.

Yeah, makes sense.

More like the last 20 years.

What's happened instead is the Bay Area's boundaries keep expanding to include inland counties.

Correct me if this is wrong, but it seemed like Redfin's predictions are based on in part on user search patterns on Redfin and surveys. It's one thing to look around enviously at lower housing prices online and quite another thing to actually pick up and leave. The fact is, the SF Bay Area provides higher pay and nearly unparalleled career/job opportunities. Add to that, personal obligations and connections, inertia, and the fact that most other places have crappier weather and other downsides...suddenly actually moving isn't so easy

The pay and opportunity in Austin aren't that different and housing costs are 1/3. Atlanta is also similar in that respect and has a lot of non-tech well-paying jobs.

A friend of a friend working for Apple transfered to the ATL offices and got to keep his Bay Area pay grade.
