Violent crime rate in Antioch is more than double according to that source you're using (5.45 vs 2.17 violent crimes per 1K). That site just combines the violent and property crime rates, usually violent crime is weighted more heavily I believe. Pleasant Hill for example has a crime rate of 48.19 according to that site and WC 34.96, both because of high property crime rates obviously.

I agree that being able to decouple two types of crime is more telling. Big difference between violent crime and property crime (say, vandalism).

The downtown areas are blighted. Hopefully those areas' downtowns are gentrified with more infil development.

My concern is that we'll see more sprawl and developments like Mountain House and Diablo Grande which have had foreclosures.


There is a new wave of suburban development that is more modeled after New Urbanism rather than late 20th Century track housing.

The current (and possibly ongoing) WFH scenario (for many), unemployment, and an overall economic shift is not exclusive to the Bay Area. That said, what is (somewhat uniquely) significant to the Bay Area's economy is relative to tourism. According to US Travel, the economic impact analysis could be nine times that of 9/11, as a whole. Considering the Bay Area saw its ninth consecutive record-breaking year in tourism last year (relative to over $10B in spending), it's going to hurt.

surely more cities will pivot to tech and the county will difuse the saturation of the market in SF.


Many rust belt states will pivot in the same way Austin is going to take over with Apple and Tesla.


Working from home also means the infrequent actual commutes could probably be longer if it is just 1 day a week or less.

The final number was 6. We got out bidded in Tracy 6 times.

We have bought in Brentwood. We are prepared for a housing bubble. However, we believe the bubble won't be as bad in the outer bay area as the inner as people move out to work from home.
